Pelham Police Department and Salem Police Department Respond to Frederic Cutter Merriam Conservation Area
Police officers from both the Pelham Police Department and the Salem Police Department responded to a possible emergency in the Frederic Cutter Merriam Conservation Area this afternoon. According to the Pelham Police Department (NH) Facebook page and tip411, Sherburne Road was closed at 12:13 p.m. and reopened at 1:42 p.m.
When asked for comment, Pelham Police Department's dispatcher and a member of the Pelham Fire Department said that no additional information was available, and to check back later for an official statement. No information was available at the scene, as an officer simply asked me to stay on the opposite side of the road to capture photographs.
According to a post on the Pelham NH Facebook Group, Karen Greenwood called the Pelham Police Department and was told, "there is no imminent danger that they were looking for someone." In the same Facebook post, Nicole LaBrecque Patalano gave an eyewitness account, stating, "I was driving on Sherburne at about 12:10 and a cruiser blocked off Sherburne and stepped out with a rifle." Nicole Iannotti corroborated, "The police are in cutter with rifles and a dog I live across the street."
Other posts mention a mental health crisis "according to people who called," and a possible suicide, but give no specific details or sources.
